Please note: We will not be running the Xmas and New Year trips to Prague in 2009. Below is our 2008 itinerary. Details for 2010 are still to be finalised but should be similar to what is below.
6 DAYS IN PRAGUE FOR CHRISTMAS - from USD $559Tuesday 23rd December 2008:Make your way to our Hostel for check in after 3pm. Tonight let's get together and check out the infamous Prague night life… Welcome to Prague! Wednesday 24th December 2008:Christmas Eve in the Czech Republic is generally considered the most enjoyable day of the Christmas holiday. Most shops and restaurants are closed but the Christmas Markets are open until Midday so we will start the day by hitting one of the many fantastic Christmas Markets to find a little something special for Secret Santa gifts and to get us in the festive mood. This afternoon we will join our local English speaking guide for a walking tour of Prague. The tour lasts a couple of hours and is an excellent orientation and introduction to this amazing city.
Tonight the group will come together at the hostel bar for a Christmas Eve party including a DJ, dancing, hors d'oeurves and drink vouchers. Thursday 25th december 2008:Merry Christmas! Today is a free day to enjoy the city or perhaps nurse a sore head! The Christmas Markets are open today as are most bars, restaurants, shops, theatres, opera, concerts and sight seeing tours.
In the early evening we will join together again for a traditional Christmas dinner which will be a buffet carvery including a half bottle of wine! Relax with your new friends with a dip in the indoor swimming pool and some movie classics on the large screen TV. Friday 26th december 2008:Today is a free day to further investigate this awesome city! Your tour leader will be on hand to assist with any directions you may need. Perhaps visit Prague Castle , walk to the top of the Astronomical Clock, take a cruise up and down the Vltava, or we can arrange an optional excursion to Staropramen Brewery, or a local ice hockey derby.
FRIday 27th December 2008:After breakfast we will meet for a group activity, while the afternoon is free to further explore this wonderful city. A PRAGUE TASTER...
Prague history is an epic story. Inhabitants of the city have witnessed a declaration of independence, Nazi control, brain washing communism & capitalist democracy. And that was just the 20th century! Today, Prague has a magical feel and is like a history lesson come to life. It's a highly visited Eastern European destination and particularly popular during summer so if you're hoping to avoid the general tourist stampede and seeking to see life through the eyes of the 'locals' then Xmas is the time to be there!
Prague bars & pubs range from trendy shot bars to log fired drinking inns. Modern bars stock a full cellar of Czech & International beers, wines & cocktails, while traditional Prague pubs serve the cheapest beer. Whatever your choice of venue or tipple, you will not be disappointed as Prague's pubs & bars appeal to everyone.
Prague Christmas markets run daily throughout December. A 'winter wonderland' awaits, as locals come to soak up the atmosphere, browse the stalls and enjoy Christmas carols, warm food and mulled wine! A good selection of Christmas stocking fillers can be found in the markets. Products include Czech glass, wooden toys, scented candles, hand-made jewellery, ceramic mugs, hats and scarves, puppets and Christmas tree ornaments. You can also see and taste traditional foods made fresh right in front of you as you wander through the various cobbled streets exploring its nooks & crannies.
