DAY 1: MOSCOW
Welcome to Moscow! Make your way to our hotel in the city centre. Perhaps test out Moscow's buzzing night life this evening and sample different varieties of Russians favourite tipple - vodka. To drink the Russian way, it should be neat! Overnight - Moscow.
DAY 2: MOSCOW
Breakfast. The setting for the plots of countless espionage novels, today’s Moscow is less ‘cloak and dagger’ and more ‘welcome and smiles’. Enjoy two full days exploring this fabulous city. Buy yourself a metro pass to hop on and off at underground stations around the capital. Around the famous Red Square you'll find many of the cities highlights; Russia's powerhouse, the mighty Kremlin, the wildly coloured St Basil's cathedral, Lenin's mausoleum and the GUM department store. DAY 3: MOSCOW
Breakfast. Free day to do as you like and finish seeing the sights. Moscow has a host of great museums, art galleries, cafes and bars to keep you entertained. Tonight make your way to the rail station for the train departure.

DAY 4-6: ABOARD THE TRAIN
Onboard train. Settle into life aboard the train as it plies its way across the Urals and large tracts of Siberia.

DAY 7 TO 9: IRKUTSK
Breakfast (2). Morning arrival in Irkutsk - a town with Asiatic influences of nearby Mongolia and China and curious architecture - a legacy of Siberia's aristocratic exiles. Sitting on the east bank of the Angara River, Irkutsk is a city that possesses a unique historical heritage in the form of dozens of beautifully carved and decorated wooden cabins. Transfer to homestay in Irkutsk. Spend the next 3 days at leisure in Irkutsk exploring the city and the surrounding area. We recommend you come armed with a good guide book to help you make the most of your time off the train. Overnight (3) - Homestay, Irkutsk.

DAY 10: ABOARD THE TRAIN
Breakfast. Transfer to rail station to climb aboard the train again and travel to Ulaan Baatar.

DAYS 11 TO 13 - ULAAN BAATARBreakfast (2). Morning arrival and transfer to Ulaan Baatar hotel. It doesn’t get much more exotic than Mongolia. Located in the landlocked plateau between Russian Siberia and the plains of northern China, Mongolia is a land of endless steppe, towering mountains, pristine lakes, rivers and desert. Laid-back and provincial Ulaan Baatar is set in the rolling foothills of the Bogd mountain range, on the banks of the Tuul River. The pine-covered mountains, wide boulevards, vast public squares and park give the city a feeling of spaciousness, while the ger communities, Buddhist temples and bustling market places give it a rustic charm. The city hubbub is Sükhbaatar Square. The Museum of Natural History is minutes away. The Gobi Desert is famous for its archaelogical finds from the Mesozoic Era. The Buddhist Temple of Gandantegchinlen Khiid and the Winter Palace of Bogd Khaan are also worth a look. Spend 3 days at leisure exploring this fascinating city and the surrounding area. DAY 14 - ABOARD THE TRAIN
Breakfast. Morning transfer to rail station to take the final leg of the epic journey to Beijing.

DAY 15: BEIJING
Today marks the end of this momentous journey, passing through Shanxi province of China and reaching Beijing this afternoon. We recommend you spend at least one night in Beijing in case the train is delayed, you really don't want the stress of missing your onward flight!
