Coast to Cappadocia - 12 days

Admire the scenery, and the laid back lifestyle of modern Turks, and be amazed at mythical natural wonders, caves, hot springs and underground cities. Starting off in the Aegean Coastal town of Kusadasi famous for being home to Turkey's most magnificent ancient city, Ephesus. Onwards to Saklient Gorge and the beachside towns of Fethiye and Olympos before taking in the surreal and spectacular surroundings of Cappadocia and its fairy chimney landscape. Finishing in the city that has attracted travellers for centuries - Istanbul. This is a slice of Turkey with a good dash of beachside fun to boot.

DAY 1: KUSADASI

Welcome to Kusadasi! Depending upon your arrival time today, you could absorb yourself in history with an optional tour of one of the seven ancient wonders of the world, the site of the Temple of Artemis and the best-preserved ancient city in Turkey, Ephesus. Maybe paddle in the natural calcium formations known as travertines of Pamukkale and visit the ancient spa town of Hierapolis or simply spend the day relaxing on an Aegean Beach. Overnight Kusadasi 

 

Please note: 

This tour begins in the southern city of Kusadasi. The 2 best ways to get to Kusadasi are by flight or rail. Several international carriers and domestic airlines fly into Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport located in Izmir approximately 80 km from Kusadasi. Buses leave Izmir Central Bus Station around every 30 minutes for Kusadasi. By rail from Istanbul the train travels from Istanbul to Izmir then Izmir to Selcuk. Selcuk is located around 20 minutes by bus from Kusadasi. Alternatively, Kusadasi is a great starting point for those who have been sailing the Greek Islands as many ferries and cruises dock in Kusadasi.

DAYS 2 & 3: BODRUM

Breakfast. Today, we will drive through Pamukkale where you can choose to do a tour to Pamukkale, paddle in the natural calcium formations, known as travertines, and visit the ancient spa town of Hierapolis before heading to Turkish Riviera - Bodrum. On day 3 Today is a day for choices. You can choose to do an optional tour of Dalyan, experience the therapeutic properties of the mud and thermal baths or maybe you would prefer to visit Bodrum castle and Antique Theater of Halicarnassus. Overnight Bodrum (2).

DAY 4: BODRUM - FETHIYE

Breakfast. Today we drive towards the picturesque resort town of Fethiye. On the way we will have the chance to visit the resort town of Marmaris. Overnight Fethiye

DAY 5: FETHIYE

Breakfast. Today you have the option to relax on a day cruise around the 12 Islands of Fethiye, go paragliding or maybe chill out on a nearby beach, the choice is yours. Overnight Fethiye.

 

Option to bolt on a 3 night Gulet cruise, embark today and cruise your way through to Day 8 in Olympos. 

 

 

DAYS 6 & 7: KAS - OLYMPOS

Breakfast. We drive along the Turquoise coast today, stopping for a swim at the spectacular Kaputas beach and then a lunch stop in Kas, traditionally a small Turkish fishing village.

 

On day 7 we will head to world famous tree houses of Olympos. In the afternoon, you have time for some relaxation, you could do nothing but chill out and meet new people or try a host of adventure activities on offer - rock climbing, diving and canyoning just to name a few. Don't miss out on your chance to see the natural phenomenon of the mythical flames of Chimera. Overnight - Kas (1), dinner and overnight Olympos (1) 

 

 

DAY 8: OLYMPOS - FREE DAY

Breakfast. Spend the day as you chose, just chilling out or taking part in adrenalin fueled activities. There is plenty on offer in Olympos. Dinner and overnight Olympos.

DAYS 9 - 11: CAPPADOCIA

Breakfast. Early morning we head out to follow an ancient silk trade route across the Anatolian Plain, on the way you will have the opportunity to visit the Mevlana Museum in Konya and then the Sultanhani Caravansary just as the ancient traders did.

 

On day 10 you have the option of taking a hot-air balloon ride in a region famed for being one of the best places in the world for ballooning. You will be back in plenty of time for the optional tour to check out the carved cave villages, underground cities and spectacular fairy chimney formations.

 

On day 11 you are free to explore the wonders of Cappadocia at your own pace. Tonight, do not miss the optional Turkish Folklore evening, which includes nearly 3 hrs of entertainment and all the food and drink you can handle! Overnight Cappadocia (3).

DAY 12: CAPPADOCIA TO ISTANBUL

Breakfast. Early morning start today as we head to Istanbul, via Ankara, the nation’s Capital. You will have time to visit the mausoleum of the famed Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and discover what happened to the Turkish nation after the ANZAC’s left. Upon arrival into Istanbul your tour concludes and sadly it is time to say good bye to new friends.
