Las Fallas - Valencia's fiesta of fire!

Does the smell of gunpowder and the sight of flames excite you? If so then Las Fallas de Valencia is your kind of event -a loud, smoky, rowdy fiesta where the whole town is literally set ablaze! Las Fallas is undoubtedly one of the most unique and crazy festivals in Spain. What started as a feast day for St. Joseph, the patron saint of carpenters, has evolved into a 5-day, multifaceted celebration of fire - so if this is what lights your fire then get in touch with GOBUS and start planning your arrival!

  • Las Fallas Festival 5 day Accommodation Package

Sunday 15th March:
After making your way to Valencia please head to the Home Hostel any time from 4pm onwards where you will be able to check in to your allocated rooms. The Home Hostel is right in the centre of the historical old town making it the perfect place to base yourself for the Las Fallas festival. Tonight we invite the group together for a welcome drink and information session where you will receive your welcome packs including a Valencia city tourist discount card, city map, souvenir tour T-shirt and authentic festival scarf. It is tonight that the Fallas are set up around the town so we will then head out to sample the famous Valencian nightlife and Fallas street parties! Welcome to Valencia's biggest annual fiesta!

Monday 16th March:
A slow start this morning before we meet together before lunch for an orientation walk around the old town. After our city orientation the afternoon is free for you to absorb all the activities of the fiesta. We recommend heading to the main plaza for the daily 2pm 'Mascleta' (firecrackers display) and wandering around the historical city centre to try and see as many of the 700+ Fallas monuments erected around the town as you can! Tonight we'll get together for some festive drinks and, for those with the staying power (the continuous street parties will certainly help with this!) catch the breathtaking fireworks at 1am.

Tuesday 17th March & Wednesday 18th March:
These days are completely free for you to enjoy the fiesta as well as make the most of the museum discounts available on your tourist cards! Your tour representative will be available to assist you with any questions you may have or inspiration you may require! They will also plan group outings to the America's Cup Village and Valencian beaches; the City of Arts & Sciences; nightly bar meetings and things to do in the old town. Dont forget Tuesday is St Patrick's Day and there is a fabulous Irish bar in the old town that we will visit to celebrate. On Tuesday evening you have the option to partake in the making of traditional Paella at the hostel. Be sure to take a seista each day as the endless partying is sure to wear out even the heartiest of revellers!

One fascinating event that takes place over these two days is the floral offering to the Kingdom of Valencia 's patron saint, Our Lady of the Forsaken. This is considered one of the Fallas week's central events and all the Fallas committees present bouquets of flowers to the enormous image of the Virgin which stands in the centre of the plaza named after her, overlooked by her basilica.

Also not to be missed is the end of day fireworks on the 18th March known as 'Nit del Foc' (literally 'Night of the Fire') which is considered the most spectacular of all the nightly fireworks displays.

Thursday 19th March:
After the intense festivities of the last few days a lazy morning is certainly deserved and today the events of Las Fallas slowly wind up. Today there is a solemn mass in Valencia's Cathedral held in honour of Valencia's patron saint of carpentry, St. Joseph; there is the last Mascleta display in the afternoon; the crazy Fire Parade at 7pm and from 10pm the Children's Fallas start to be burnt down. The grand finale starts at midnight though with the burning of all the Fallas in Valencia except for the winning one which is saved until 12.30! To end the evening (now early hours of the morning!) there is an aerial fireworks display in the main plaza.

Friday 20th March:
All good things must come to an end and today our Las Fallas festival accommodation package finishes. Check out of the hostel is 12pm. We trust you have had an amazing time in Valencia and wish you safe onwards travel!

SPECIAL NOTE: Due to the sheer demand of accommodation in Valencia during this period our accommodation (as does the majority of venues) locks us into a 5 night minimum stay. As a result of this, if you would like to stay for less than these 5 nights, you are more than welcome to do so, however we can not reduce the price of the package.
